We humans are notorious for craving variety.  It’s a good thing and a bad thing!

If we’re seeking variety as a means of escape from important things, it’s doesn’t usually serve us well.  But when we’re channeling it wisely, it helps us add zest to our lives, renew passion and break up routines.

If you’re feeling bored with the big things in life – relationships, friends, jobs and careers – seek variety in haste and you can well find yourself repenting alone and at leisure!

But mixing the little day to day things up with different choices is a safe and often cost-effective way to head off boredom and help you to appreciate how a few little tweaks here and there can really have quite a big influence over the blahs, mehs and whatevers.

Food and beverages are top of the list for ways to get variety.  Judging by the number of ‘with a squeeze of’, ‘ hints of’ and ‘with a touch of’ abounding on the packets tea and coffee nowadays, clearly manufacturers think we’re bored senseless with traditional choices and they must dazzle us relentlessly with an array of fusions, infusions and diffusions of all manner of citrus, herb, fruit and spice when we’re trying to have a nice refreshing cuppa in our day.

Even sparkling waters are not exempt, whether spring water, mineral water or tap water packaged to look like something in that vein.  A cheery sprinkle of this, a deft dash of that and at no extra cost versus the plain: bargain!

All of this is well and good flavour-wise, as long as the flavourings are natural and no nasties are being smuggled in.  But do they make your drinks any healthier?  There’s a good chance the answer is not.

When you add Young Living Vitality™ essential oils, however – the ones specifically labelled and known as safe to add to food and drink – you’re not just adding megawatts of flavour with just a few drops, you’re adding vitality and uplifting energy, too.  Surely that’s reason enough to give it a try and add these to your every day. Please get in touch with us directly and we’ll help you join Young Living via our team.  It’s easy as pie and once you’ve joined, you can log into your own special area to browse and order any time!

It’s imperative that you only add essential oils to food and drink when the label clearly states it’s safe to do so.  Young Living’s quality is guaranteed to be pure and of impeccable standards so there are no additives that can creep in anywhere in their process, from the seeds used to grow the plants right through to the bottling.  Even so, not all plants have been put on the planet by Mother Nature for the purpose of going down the hatch – so even with Young Living’s divine essential oils, please be prudent and check the label for the OK to ingest them.

HOW MANY DROPS?

Always follow the label and adjust the number of drops to suit your sense of taste.  For a standard 200mL glass of water, anywhere from just one drop to a few drops is the general range.  Some oils are stronger than others, so always run with one drop first until you’ve assessed.  Once you’ve got a feel for that, you can multiply it out to suit a bottle, jug, carafe, or even those beautiful decorative glass water dispensers that hold enough for a party.

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

Have fun with adding fresh fruit and herbs as well – even organic edible flower petals like rose or nasturtium.  If you need to entice yourself into drinking more fluids (the kind that don’t involve alcohol and caffeine!) then making the water look beautiful is another way to make it all more appealing.

SOME LIKE IT HOT

Longing for a hot drink?  Too much heat damages the delicate essential oil molecules and can reduce their efficacy, so fill your glass with warm water instead of boiling hot.  Put a splash of room temperature water in the glass first, add the essential oil then pour the warm water over the top.  This helps to disperse the oil more evenly through the water.  If you enjoy a dash of honey, too, stir the honey and oil together in the bottom of the cup before adding any water.  Again, this will help disperse the oil more evenly.

Now, let’s crack on with opening oil bottles and we’ll run through our Top 5 Young Living Vitality™ Essential Oils to add to your water jug, water bottle and mug for flavour, vim and vigour.  Try mixing and matching them too!  Our favourite combo is lemon, tangerine and spearmint.  Please let us know yours.
