If you’ve read my moving tips, you’re already familiar with how handy I’ve found Young Living PanAway® to be.

When I was setting up my new Man Shed after the big move and organising my tools and work bench, I remembered a DIY mishap I had a couple of years ago. It was a far grislier incident than those I had while moving — and after hunting around, I found the before and after photos for you.

If you’re eating breakfast or the sight of blood makes you queasy, look away now — or come back when you’ve finished eating.

Please bear in mind that this is my personal experience.  We’re not all built the same and we don’t all respond the same way to things.  I’m just sharing my story with you in case you can benefit from my mishap.  Lemons into lemonade.

You’re still with me? Then on with the show!

I was in my workshop when a sheet of steel slipped and slid down my shin, shearing off a large area of skin with it.

As you probably know from experience, the skin in this area is quite soft and close to the bone. So it made quite a mess, as you can see from this first photograph.

There are four essential oils that I always keep in my workshop. They are PanAway®, Thieves®, Purification™ and lavender. (In future posts I will explain why I keep and use each of these oils in my workshop.  You’ll find them all in Young Living’s Everyday Oils Collection and today’s story is a good reason why.)

The bleeding was making a mess of my workshop floor.  So knowing PanAway® includes helichrysum, I grabbed it and dripped a number of drops of oil onto the source.

I replaced the cap on the bottle and went back to work. (Let nothing come between a man and his pressing DIY job.)

The second photo shows the area not quite one week later. I did apply PanAway® a couple of times during the week to keep things ticking along. As it’s safe to use, I figured there was no harm reapplying in case it helped.

The next photo shows the area around one month after the accident.

Looking back, I could have paid a little more attention in order to minimise the skin flaking and helping the appearance of the skin, but I seem to remember being especially busy at the time. Considering how little TLC I gave it after the initial drizzle of oil, I’m happy.

Please click here or head to the contact page and I’ll be glad to lend a fellow Do It Yourselfer a hand so you can get back to your tools as soon as possible!

Enjoy the good oil daily.
