Want to spruce up your life?  Start diffusing spruce essential oil!

This expression – ‘to spruce up’ meaning ‘to make trim or neat’ – doesn’t come from the essential oil but it well could.  It actually harks back to the 1500s when spruce leather was popular for making smart-looking jerkins.  Personally I think we should bring jerkins back into use.  Who wouldn’t want to wear a jerkin!  Modern language is sadly lacking in word gems like these.

But there I go digressing.  Let me pause to inhale some Young Living Gathering™ essential oil blend and rub a drop across my forehead.  With its warmly sweet fragrance from such beauties as geranium, galbanum, frankincense and sandalwood, this blend always helps me collect my thoughts and re-focus.  And it smells amazing.  (Please click here to get in touch with us for personal assistance with placing your first Young Living order.  We’d love to help you get started.)  There, that’s better – on with today’s subject!

So how does spruce essential oil help you spruce up your life?

It’s been used traditionally for a long, long time for its frequency of prosperity.  Users were believed to increase their powers of attraction.  When you’re feeling magnetic and prosperous, that flows through to all you do and you can’t help but make things bright and shiny around you.

Using spruce essential oil is like you’ve been gently dropped by parachute into an invigorating forest where the air is clean and you’d swear it’s the colour green.

Steam distilled from the branches, needles and twigs of the tree, spruce essential oil is awesome for inhalation and helping your lungs to feel vital and happy.  This in turns helps you to feel vibrant, relaxed and energised.  In short, spruce essential oil is a bottle full of “Wow, it’s great to be alive!” just waiting for you to release it and go along for the ride.

Botanically, spruce is a member of the Pinaceae family.  Its close relatives include cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica), Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), Idaho Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea), Idaho Blue Spruce (Picea pungens), Pine (Pinus sylvestris), Tsuga (Tsuga canadensis) and White Fir (Abies concolor).  When it comes to invigoration while also grounding you, these all share similar traits.

Young Living gathers several of these together into a divine blend called Sacred Mountain™.

young-living-sacred-mountainYou’ll find spruce, cedarwood and Idaho Balsam fir bonded with ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) – this oil is beautiful for coaxing relaxation, restoring confidence and equilibrium.  If your masculine and feminine energies are doing battle, ylang ylang is a great balancer.

Aromatically, Young Living Sacred Mountain™ empowers and grounds you in a sense of feeling spiritually protected.  You can diffuse it, inhale straight from the bottle or from your cupped hands over your nose, add it to massage oil (dilute one part Sacred Mountain™ to five parts pure vegetable/fruit oil of your choice) and Young Living Bath Gel Base™.  I also love applying it directly to the crown of my head, back of my neck, behind my ears and on my wrists.

As for the single essential oil of spruce, enjoy using it with the same methods outlined above and feel like you’re walking in a forest of calm.  Who doesn’t want a piece of that!

Essential oils are potent, so as always, please follow directions on the bottle and the usual guidelines for safe use of authentic essential oils.
