Neroli, neroli, neroli, neroli, life is but a dream!

If you’re going against the flow of the well-known children’s nursery rhyme and rowing your boat up the stream instead of down, essential oil of neroli will encourage your confidence to meet the challenge.

You might be wondering where the neroli tree grows and why you haven’t heard of it.

Fun fact for your next trivia night: neroli comes from the flowers of the bitter orange tree – not a neroli tree.

Neroli oil (Citrus aurantium) is technically an absolute rather than an essential oil, being sourced by absolute extraction from these incredibly delicate flowers that are akin to jasmine in their precious and easily-bruised natures.  These oils are highly supportive to people with delicate and easily-bruised natures, too – Mother Nature really is a very smart cookie (possibly vegan and gluten-free but I guess we’ll never know).

So what is absolute extraction?

It’s the most complicated of the essential oil extraction techniques because it requires use of a solvent.  When the plant material is extremely delicate – as is the case with the bitter orange flowers and jasmine flowers – it would not survive the steam distillation technique.

With solvent extraction, solvent is added to the plant material and it helps to draw out the essential oil gently so that the integrity of the oil is not compromised.  Then a second extraction takes place with steam to lift the solvent back out of the oil.

Neroli and jasmine are (currently) the only two oils Young Living uses absolute extraction method to obtain.

You can see from this complexity how imperative it is to be sure of the quality of the essential oils you’re using, which is why we always choose Young Living oils.  Discover why we love them so much in this short video then please come back and click here to order and buy as a retail customer, or head to our contact page for our help with ordering at a discount and maybe even developing your own independent Young Living lifestyle business.
